As unbalanced, negative and biased reporting are bound to continue because the concentration of media networks and international resources in the west.
This is really sad that 26 years after the Commission for UNESCO and sponsored McBride report recommendations not yet fully implemented, which is the most important proposals for national development and implementation of international measures to promote the creation of a new world information and communication.
If there is, to share information between developed and developing countries has increased, even more especially in this digital age, which is run by globalization and technology. Africa and the developing world have found themselves back behind the west.
However, a little goodwill and responsibility on the part of the western media this time was needed to prevent the continued fear and psychological damage, sometimes caused feelings of inferiority on the part of Africa as a result of the continued criminalization of all things sensationalisation Africa.
Not all Africans are criminals, rapists and barbaric. Also, there are many good things about Africa. Not all Africans live in slums, and all Heaps of garbage scavenging for food. Africa has also produced scholars and intellectuals who can stand alone in the western world. They agreed the continent still face unique challenges, but so does the whole world development.
A situation where a little effort by African governments and their people to take control of their good fortune was not reported, misreported, under reported or acknowledged with cynicism by the western media is not acceptable, and does not show respect for the continent, as well not show the ideals of cooperation, the concept that Western leaders have been touting recently.
But why the Western media is still developing a negative culture and biased reporting of Africa and its people?
May result from the need to improve the ratings, which can be achieved only by satisfying voyeuristic carnal tastes and expectations of Western media audiences, the colonial views of Africa as a continent after dark should be strengthened and sustained.
Also, a possible result of poor culture and be accepted by the Western media that sold the bad news, and information about the famine in Sudan who described the children died, or about the savagery in Rwanda must look for information by all, even if the offerings and the cost development needs of Africa, with their national interests.
Once again, this report was published as the Global Media McBride contamination in the hands of national governments and their agencies, must understand that they have that the government will control the media network through policies aimed at encouraging the new world information and communication. Reports for advice on the nature and generous offer from the stakeholders without any legal authority to impose sanctions, what is still - and the report does not seem to have done so much damage, although the African efforts to establish the Pan African News Agency (Pana), billed as the voice of Africa and the world and represent the African perspective, not much can be said to have achieved has been business as usual ever since.
Finally, more concentration of media in the western international network, ie, CNN, BBC, FOX, Reuters, AFP, etc., including the availability of equipment and human resources for the Western media to come first and information, as against the African media network as NTA, SABC, Pana, NAN, wait, and so on, which was jammed and the lack of resources, and therefore can not be overcome in carrying out the international media, thus limiting their opportunities include African positive. It is as if Africa had to rely on Western news coverage of media events happened right under their Moses, or in their backyards. Western media to send even a remote resource, they can since the two sons and staff resources. Not the same can be said of Africa network media.
Africa can also be guilty of supporting and developing this neo-colonialism, the reporters and writers in the west and destroyed their chauvinistic views, easy media ceremony and opportunities in the media through Africa, did not mind the adage that a camel strings when it passed through the needle hole to journalists and African writers of the information published in western media, and discrimination of several African writers and journalists who defend the status Quo west, willing to rock the boat.
A case recently reported in some English (UK) Media Drives home this step. Tony Blair's government has been involved in the war for political life since the end they beat in the local elections in May 2006.
Blair government's sacrificial lamb looking everywhere to make up for the stupidity of government in some areas, and also serve the interests of the media. Apparently they have focused on African and other migrants in the UK. Media in Britain are now successfully created the impression in the minds of increasingly nationalistic country English, immigrants are bad and evil. Issues were also not helped by the fact that more than a thousand dangerous criminals released a mistake, some claim to be deported but weren t as a result of the Home Office mistake.
As the Evening Standard newspaper went to town recently and announced that the headline screamed 5 nigeria not find illegal immigrants working at the central office. It is more correct analysis shows that the immigrants in question worked as cleaners under contract with another company.
If the news is biased undermine the importance of immigrants in most western economies. Consider the wages paid to workers in the cleaning and related sectors, remains to be seen as citizens of these countries would agree to work as a migrant laborer in the ludicrous wages paid for their services.
Nigeria now seems to represent something evil eyes of western media because they are quick to give the vaccine to the screaming front page of the main issues related to land. Taking the case of Dr Richard Akinrolabu, senior house officer at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, which is the lover and the other accused trying to achieve an illegal abortion procedure on it. Doctor's name and humiliated in front page headlines were written along the Nigerian Doctor ... His accuser, a white woman did not suffer the same fate. Finally, the case was thrown out but not after a big shame to the doctor and neighbor countries. You want them to expect the media to not-guilty as the main decisions and coverage but did not.
Another example of media misreporting of West Africa and Africa can be seen in the case of Coma Guy, who is an alien crimes BBC News 24 interviews from the program. Scheduling of mix-ups, Mr Koma who had gone to the BBC for a job interview center is planned to mislead visitors (Guy Kewney) but still managed to talk his way through the session despite the implication that the theme of the interview. English Revelled in the media as the angle of human interest but poor recognition of Mr. Koma as a taxi driver. Not that there is something wrong with being a taxi driver but the media sentences can only be influenced by their age-old prejudices as the type of work to African immigrants. This has since been confirmed that Mr Koma is the real work to attend an interview at the BBC IT department for a mix-up. No information on the monitor when he got a job, not that Mr Koma would mind anyway, because since he signed a lucrative agreement with film production companies in the United States, and billed to play himself in the film.
African and African governments with the resources should be the goal of building their network of media against the civil inequality in international perspective the media, while also there is a way eploiting in developed countries where most of them now live to tell their stories.
