Just think! two different radio formats for the price of one

One of the criticisms that have been imposed on conventional - or terrestrial - radio is that many of today's power plants have a playlist and keep playing music again and again. Plus, many listeners said that there are too darn many ads.

Well, HD Radio will soon fix it.

HD Radio or digital radio allows stations to broadcast a different signal the same frequency. This technology is called multicsting. In multicasting, there is a large, if you now go back to hear your favorite station, plus up to four subchannels or, because they are usually called, HD2 channels.

A number of HD Radio broadcasting stations are ready to test the HD2 channel.

For example, there are some interesting things that happened in Chicago, which has approximately 15 HD2 channels.

Some stations such as WLUP, simply choose to extend its current form and the classic rock stations are often and hard and rock on HD2 channels.

Another attempt to improve their listening audience and some very different formats. Which contains contemporary lit up the main channel and outlets disco HD2. WOJO past direction completely different and broadcasting channels and two Reggaeton Dancehall Latin America.

Some Chicago HD2 channels in WKSC 103.5's Gay Pride Radio; 107.5 GCI's Old School Hip Hop; 99.5 Future State WUSN; 96.3 and WBBM all-music format dance.

Furthermore, Cox Broadcasting has launched high-definition seven subchannels (HD2 channels). Subchannels can be heard on stations in Atlanta and the company's Tampa.

In Atlanta, WSB-FM, an Adult Contemporary station, will broadcast a new Soft Standards HD2 sub-channel; WBTS-FM, rhythmic Top 40 stations, will broadcast the images Top 40 HD2 sub-channel; His-FM, an adult urban centers, adult sex ads Hip Hop HD2 sub-channel; and WSRV-FM, a Classic Hits station, will not mulcast Cox's Radio AM750 News / Talk format on HD2 sub-channel.

In Tampa, SUN-FM, an Alternative Rock station, will broadcast the All Grunge Rock HD2 sub-channel; poi-FM, a 80's Hits station, will broadcast a small modern and HD2 channels WWRM Adult-FM, Adult Contemporary a station, will broadcast on Channel Contemporary Christian HD2 sub.

And look, Ma. No Ads!

Just as important, these HD2 channels commercial free. In fact, the broadcaster and has promised to put the HD2 channels commercial free at least through 2007.

From what we hear all this good news and bad news. The good news is obvious - do not interfere with Ad. The bad news is that some of the HD2 channels is only one song after another broadcaster, without at all. We think this could be a bit boring after a bit.
