In PC Magazine recent article, writer Jeremy Kaplan did a fantastic job to show them that actually speed broadband Internet access providers large consumers.

He did it with speed to build tests that measure the throughput on popular Web sites such as Google, Expedia, and many others. Until this report was published, which used to compare tons ISP is through the use of various internet speed test sites available online.

Problem and this validation is that he could not mulate real broadband speeds I have encountered when doing typical Web surfing and downloading operations. Plus, ISPs can interfere with the speed test results - this again later.

When I see the PC Magazine tests, I was a little relieved to see that the actual provider of broadband speeds are somewhere between 150 Kbit / s and 200 Kbit / s. This is the cry of two, three or even four megabit nedladdningshastighet frequently hyped in ISP marketing literature.

Gradually these results more in line with what I experienced from the house of relationships, though online Internet speed tests always show results close, if not accurate, they advertised three megabits per second. There are many factors that determine your internet speed is real, and there are very few tricks that can be used to create the illusion of connection speed.

Before continuing, I must admit that I do in my life to help ISPs Bandwidth wanyooshea between users. In doing this, I always encourage all parties to be faithful to their clients, and in many cases providers. If you read the fine print in your service contract, you will see disclaimers saying that the actual speed of broadband Internet can be different, or something like that. Disclaimers do not attempt to deceive, but a simple reflection of reality.

Guarantee a fixed rate at any location on the internet is not possible, also never intended to become the Internet as a source. This is always the best effort mechanism. I also must admit that I usually work with a small ISP. Companies in their own network of employees, and so I have no special knowledge about how to deal with oversold conditions, because they deliberately oversell, and if so, how. General business instincts make me believe that you have a lot to sell up to a certain level of benefit. But, once again, this t ISN something that I can confirm.

Problems expectations

How would you feel if you pump a gallon of gas only to find that the service station yards away by 10 percent in favor? Obviously you want the owner to open one and needs a refund, and maybe even a criminal complaint against the station. So, why consumers tolerate the shenanigans as their ISP?

Just put this matter expectations.

ISPs know that new and existing customers to compare them is a higher-speed Internet experience dial-up connections, which are often difficult to maintain the 28 Kbit / s. So, even at 150 Kbits / s, customers get an increase in the level seven times, which is like the difference between flying in a jet and driving a car. Basis set and played on so slowly that many ISPs don t really need to provide correct information for the ongoing success of three megabits.

As a consumer, reliable information is essential in making good decisions in the marketplace. Here are some important questions you may want to ask your provider about their relationship broadband speeds. It is possible the sale will know the answer, or even make them, but maybe over time, with some insistence, details will be available. Next: Five Questions to Ask ISP

Five Questions to Ask ISP

1.) What is the ratio of fights in my neighborhood?

The basis of any internet service is a balance between the number of people who share resources and the amount of available resources.

For example, a typical start to give out and a big pipe internet access is shared through the exchange points from other major providers. This divide is access to their customers in smaller pieces - maybe starting with a gigabit exchange point and then declined to 10 in local megabit pipe used in conjunction with the client throughout the Subdivision or area of the city.

Speed your customers, they can achieve is limited by how many people can share up to 10 megabit pipe path at a time. If you are promised one megabit service, it is likely that you will share your trunk provider for more than 10 customers to take advantage of the use of natural character, who will find that not all users are active at any one time.

Appropriate contention ratio will vary from region to region, but from experience, your provider will want to maximize the number of members can participate pipes, services and minimize complaints for slow networks. In some cases, have seen as many as 1.000 subscribers sharing 10 megabits. This is a little extreme, but even with this high ratio, the speed of broadband customers would average faster than dial up.

2.) Does your ISP's exchange point with other providers to get the full?

Even if your neighbor link remains unclear, contact your provider can be a full exchange at the point. Internet consists of different mobile networks and the backbone. If you send an email to a friend who received services from companies other than your provider, your ISP must then send the data to another network share point. Exchange rate is not a small point, but is determined by the type of switching equipment. If the exchange point traffic exceeds the capacity to change or accept the bearer, then the traffic will be slow.

3.) Do you support mobile speed test site?

As we noted earlier, it is possible for ISPs to personal preferences speed test site. Providers have all kinds of tools they have to allow banning certain types of traffic. On the other hand seems strange to me that the original quoted PC Magazine tests, which use Web sites are most familiar, faster results less well publicized by the serial connection speed broadband. One explanation for this is that service providers give full speed only when the normal speed will test the Web site.

4.) File-sharing is a closed question Do your network provider?

Another common method to save resources in exchange for providing a clear route re-file-sharing application to stay in their network. For example, if you usually use file sharing applications like BitTorrent, and you're looking for some non-copyrighted materials, will be in your best interest to contact and resources around the world to ensure faster downloads.

However, if your provider may put you into their network, they can avoid clogging their exchange points. Companies from keeping tabs on how much traffic they exchange in the balance sheet, so the extra money, their interest in the limited traffic on their networks, if possible.

5.) Does your provider to make use based throttling?

Bandwidth capacity for a short time and then slow down if you continue to download in other ISP tricks you can use. Sometimes they call speed burst, which could mean that broadband speeds increase up to five megabits, and they do this kind of behavior, whether the consumer benefits. Use of the Internet may look a bit quicker, but it is true that marketing tool allows your ISP to announce via a broadband connection speed - the speed of broadband, although sporadic and could be short-lived.

For example, you may be able to reach only five megabits at 12:00 am on Tuesday, or not known random times. Your provider may let users get broadband speeds on the use of nature. On the other hand, in the crowded during the day, very seldom that a large broadband speeds available.

In writing this article, I do not intend to create a conspiracy theory about moral providers. Market and any two or more choices to ensure that consumers will benefit. Before you ask the Congress investigation, determined that the ISP's known marketing strategies are no different than other industries, because they generally mention the case when the environment to promote their products. Federal regulations would only thwart the very spirit of the Internet, which, as noted above, is always the best effort infrastructure.

But, with the information above, it is your duty as consumers to comparison shop and find the answers. Your choice is what drives the market and ask questions like what is your ISP will be included in the right direction.
